Hi, I'm Hannah and I'm 12 years old. This April I will be riding the length of the UK from Lands End to John O'Groats with my dad. The distance will be approximately 1000 miles and I hope to complete the ride in 21 days.

I will be heading off from Lands End on Saturday 30th March and aim to arrive in John O'Groats over the Easter weekend. The first week will be unsupported as mum still has to work. Dad and I will carry all our own gear and stay in hotels, B&Bs and Youth hostels. I aim to arrive in Bristol on Wednesday evening 3rd April and I will spend some of Thursday in school seeing friends and running a cycle charity day, hopefully with some cycle related activities! Mum will then pick up the camper van we are hiring and we will then use that for our accommodation for the rest of the trip north.

I am raising money for two charities; The Grand Appeal who will use the money I raise to provide music therapy for children whilst they are very ill in hospital. I chose this charity because, apart from riding my bike, I love music and know how wonderful it is to have access to a good musical education or to have help and support through music.

The second charity is United World Schools. This charity helps build and run schools in Cambodia. My school, Redmaids High, has sponsored Jong School in Cambodia since 2011, helping to build it and then supporting it's students and teachers since. Every two years our sixth form students visit the school to provide teaching in the arts for the pupils there and my mum is going with the group this year (she is a music teacher at Redmaids High). UWS have certain aims for fundraising this year and I have decided I would like any money I raise to go towards training teachers. It costs £250 to train a teacher. My target for both charities is £2000, so hopefully I will be able to train 4 teachers!

So far my training has consisted of single day rides up to about 50 miles and in October I cycled to Reading over 2 days. I find it very hard to fit in training around school, sport and music as evenings and weekends are very busy. I have a bit of time over Feb half term so, as long as the roads are not too icy, I will be able to get some rides in then.

67 days and counting!
